Dr. Snežna Sodin-Šemrl je odrasla v Sloveniji kakor tudi v Torontu, Kanadi. Je molekularni/celični biolog, dodiplomski študij je zaključila na biotehnični fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani, Slovenija (1987), magisterij na Hunter College-u, v New Yorku (1989) in doktorat (1997) na Univerzi Illinois v Chicago-u (UIC). Postdoktorat je prav tako opravljala na UIC, na oddelku za Medicino/Revmatologijo s 3-letno štipendijo od znane Arthritis Foundation, ZDA. Po končanem postdoktoratu, je bila dr. Sodin-Šemrl zaposlena na UIC kot mladi predavatelj/medicinski inštruktor do leta 2005, ko je prejela Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant. Dr. Sodin-Šemrl trenutno dela v največjem javnem zdravstvenem zavodu v Sloveniji (v Univerzitetnem Kliničnem Centru Ljubljana) kot višji razvojni sodelavec, prav tako pa opravlja funkcijo vodje nacionalnega programa, ki se imenuje Sistemske avtoimunske bolezni, ter koordinira 15-članski multicenterski internationalni konzorcij, ki se ukvarja z raziskavami Serumskega amyloida A. Zaposlena je bila pri Evropski Komisiji kot ekspert/evaluator EU projektov (Nanotechnology, 2008 and Innovative Research in Personalized Medicine, 2012). Dr. Sodin-Šemrl je objavila preko 25 originalnih and preglednih člankov, 5 poglavij v knjigah in je predstavila vabljena predavanja v ZDA (Northwestern University in UIC) kakor tudi v Londonu (Queen Mary, University Of London). Ze dve leti tudi predava kot docentka na Univerzi na Primorskem, Fakulteti za matematiko, naravoslovne znanosti in informacijsko tehnologijo, v Sloveniji in sicer predmete Biological Contents, Structures of Biological Molecules and del predmeta Bioinformatike.

Dr. Snezna Sodin-Semrl grew up in Slovenia, as well as in Toronto, Canada. She is a Molecular/Cellular Biologist, graduated from the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (1987), with a Masters degree from Hunter College, New York (1989) and doctorate (1997) from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She pursued her postdoctorate in the Department of Medicine/Rheumatology with a 3 year fellowship from the prestigious Arthritis Foundation, USA. Following her postdoctorate, Dr. Sodin-Semrl was employed at UIC as a Junior Faculty/Medical Instructor until she obtained the Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant in 2005. Dr. Sodin-Semrl is currently employed at the largest public medical institution in Slovenia (The University Medical Center Ljubljana) as Senior Development Scientist, is Leader of the National Programme entitled Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, and coordinates a 15 partner multicenter international consortium interested in Serum Amyloid A research. She was employed by the European Commission as an expert/evaluator of grant projects (Nanotechnology, 2008 and Innovative Research in Personalized Medicine, 2012). Dr. Sodin-Semrl has published over 25 original and review articles, 5 chapters in books and has presented invited lectures in the USA (Northwestern University and UIC) as well as the UK (Queen Mary, University Of London). Currently, she also holds an Assistant Professorship position at the University Of Primorska, Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technology, Slovenia,where she teaches Biological Content, Structures of Biological Molecules and part of the Bioinformatics course.
