V članku je podan kratek uvod v fotonske tehnologije ter optične vlakenske senzorje, ki so ena izmed hitro rastočih področij fotonskih tehnologij. Podane so raziskovalne aktivnosti in dosežki na tem področju v Sloveniji in posebej na UM-FERI.
