About

Beginning in 1992, members of the faculty who are outstanding teachers have been selected as Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellows. Appointment as a Fellow recognizes faculty who have made exemplary and sustained contributions to the teaching and education of undergraduates at MIT. In the fall of each academic year the MIT community is invited to nominate members of the faculty for consideration as new MacVicar Faculty Fellows.

The MacVicar Faculty Fellows Program was named to honor the life and contributions of the late Margaret MacVicar, Professor of Physical Science and Dean for Undergraduate Education at the time of her death in 1991.

Each spring, the Fellows sponsor MacVicar Day - MIT's annual recognition of undergraduate education.
