The FLOODRisk master offers a unique, multi-disciplinary course of studies equipping graduates to deal with the growing flood risks of the 21st century. This programme follows the holistic approach and is explicitly designed to cover a wide range of topics - from drivers and natural processes to models, decisions and socio-economic consequences and institutional environment and is therefore an important advance in water education for Europe. Integration of all aspects of flood risk is the cornerstone of the FLOODRisk master. The first semester at TU Dresden, Germany offers a basic grounding to all students. This is followed by a semester at IHE Delft, Netherlands introducing the hydroinformatics and modelling components and a semester in UPC Barcelona, Spain and University of Ljubljana, Slovenia following more specialised modules. The final semester is given over to a research thesis.
Students presented seminars about case studies on the subjects: Socioeconomical assessment of flood protection and Spatial planning for flood protection. In the seminar work students organised as team present their critical view on particular flood risk management case study and discus about good and bad practice.
Socioeconomical assessment of flood protection gives students understanding: *The role of communication and public participation in decision making process; *The level of social support of particular solution; *Social processes and estimate social capital; *How to select proper methods and tools for economical analysis of flood protection.
Spatial planning for flood protection provides students: *Ability for team work on regional, urban and local plans with respect to flood control *Design flood control together with land use planning, planning the infrastructure, nature 2000 other protected areas
