About
The Confucius Institute is a non-profit organisation established for the purpose of promoting and teaching Chinese language and culture. It operates under supervision of the Chinese state office for spreading the Chinese language in Beijing (the Hanban-Office of Chinese Language Council International). Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, as a public institution affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education, is committed to providing Chinese language and cultural teaching resources and services around the world. More than 300 Confucius Institutes and 200 Confucius classrooms have been established in 94 countries, but only a few Confucius Institutes are business-oriented. CI Ljubljana is one of them. The main purpose of CI Ljubljana is to promote Chinese language and culture among students, the community and companies, encourage business opportunities in China and act as a bridge between the Slovenian and Chinese business environments. CI Ljubljana closely co-operates with the Department of Sinology at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, especially with Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Prof. dr. Mitja Saje.
